The donations were raised through various sporting events in which numerous athletes actively supported children with heart conditions. The initiative aims to raise awareness through athletic commitment and to make a lasting contribution to better care and ongoing medical progress in pediatric cardiology.
For Enrico Merker, this cause is a matter close to his heart. Motivated by personal experience, he founded the initiative to help improve the future prospects of children born with heart defects. It is especially important to him that all donations are used directly where they are most needed – for state-of-the-art diagnostics, innovative therapies, research, and child-friendly care in everyday clinical practice.
The donation handover took place in the presence of representatives from the Foundation, Prof. Dr. Felix Berger – Director of the Department of Congenital Heart Defects and Pediatric Cardiology at the DHZC – and Andreas Portmann, Managing Director of the DHZB Foundation.
